Elphaba Thropp, also known as the Wicked Witch of the West, is the green-skinned protagonist of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The Wicked Witch of the West was originally the antagonist created by author L. Frank Baum from his 1900 children's novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and most notably in the 1939 MGM musical film version, The Wizard of Oz.
